Edmunds Ace Hardware in New Hampshire will celebrate major anniversaries at two stores this weekend.
The store in Henniker, located at 262 Maple St., is celebrating its 80th anniversary, while the store in Antrim, located at 56 Main St., is marking its 60th anniversary. Both locations will hold customer appreciations events from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15.
As part of America’s most celebrated “helpful place,” the stores bring Ace Hardware's signature mix of personal, knowledgeable and helpful service combined with quality home maintenance expertise and products to local residents.
Edmunds was first opened in 1942 by Clarence and Hattie Edmunds in the downtown Proctor Square area of Henniker. The brand's second location opened on Main Street in Antrim in 1962, when Clarence and Hattie's son Richard was 18. Richard later took over the location in 1966. Rick Edmunds, manager of Edmunds Ace Hardware, is the third-generation family member to continue the tradition of operating a "mom and pop type feel of a store."
The appreciation events will include food and raffle prizes, including an Ego Power Plus Straight Shaft Battery String Trimmer valued at $249, a Paint a Room Makeover valued at $125, a Weber Spirit II E-210 Gas Grill valued at $459 and a Milwaukee drill and driver set valued at $399. Visitors to the stores can also take advantage of a Bucket Sale of $5, where they can buy a 5-gallon Ace bucket in exchange for a 20% discount on regular-priced items that fit into it. Donations of $5 will be accepted and given to Coats for Kids and the Antrim Fire Department.
